What is Safe Homes?
Safe Homes of GHS is a network of parents who pledge that they (1) will be at home when their teens have parties and (2) will not allow the illegal use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco at teen parties in their home or on their property. Parents participating in this pledge will be indicated in the directory.
Why Safe Homes?
Many parents feel that they are the only ones who want a safe, drug and alcohol free environment for their children and feel uncomfortable talking to other adults or kids about their concerns. Research shows that parents, who set clear rules, monitor their teen’s activities, and who provided a safe environment will greatly lower the risk that their children will be involved in using alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
The GHS Parent's Pledge is not intended to be and in no way constitute a legal agreement between the households signing and the Glenelg High School Community at large. It does not in any way constitute a legal document or create a legal duty or obligation nor any personal liability to you. It is not an assumption of risk, or an agreement to assume liability for the actions of non family members who visit your homes. It is simply a tool for parents to communicate their desire to maintain a household free of drugs and alcohol. The pledge is not intended to be a substitute for responsible parenting, all parents are encouraged to contact the homes in which their children are visiting.
